Altex performs portable machining at site and in our shop to ensure proper flange flatness and surface finish which is critical to leak-free hydrotest and start-up!

Is this necessary?

Yes, in our opinion. Heat exchanger have a hard life and anything can happen during their lifespan. Checking and machining flange surfaces in combination with controlled bolting essentially guarantees leak-free performance. What’s the true cost of a leak at start-up?

We also have special in-house designed machining equipment to safely and non-destructively remove diaphragm seals, like those used on channel covers of high-pressure heat exchangers.
